Summer Research

Announcement for 2009 Summer Program

  • Program Description
The chemistry department encourages  students to obtain research experience by applying for positions in the summer research program at SMC. The SOS funds 10-15 students with stipends, materials, and on-campus housing and gives them the opportunity to develop a research project in their area of interest. Research is done in full collaboration with faculty in the school of science and in the company of other students. The summer program includes social activities such as weekley BBQs and visits to local Bay areas of interest. The program culminates in a poster session in Fall semester.

    • How to Apply

Burley Yosemite

Interested in pursuing chemistry research in summer program? You can learn more about our research backgrounds and interests from this website or feel free to contact us and set up an appointment. Posters exhibiting student-faculty research collaborations are also on display on the 3rd floor of Brouseau Hall.

After discussing possible research projects with faculty members students then need to fill out an application which includes a brief abstract (description) of the proposed work. Applications for the summer of 2009 will be due in March of spring semester. Current students interested in submitting an application for the summer research program are encouraged to contact the office of the Dean of the School of Science for further information and an application.
